Welcome to DroppCash

DroppCash is a multi-currency digital wallet. You can hold money in many currencies, send it to other people, pay businesses, get paid, exchange between currencies, hold payments safely in escrow, and turn cash into wallet money (and back) through agents. This guide explains every feature, how to set it up, what it costs, and what to do when something does not go as expected, so you can use the platform without needing to contact anyone.

The three account types

DroppCash has three kinds of accounts. Each one has its own sign-up page, its own login and its own dashboard. Pick the one that matches what you want to do.

Good to know

The three account types are completely separate. A User account, an Agent account and a Merchant account that use the same email address are three different accounts with three different wallets and three different passwords. When you send money to someone you must send it to the right account type: a Transfer goes to a User, a Payment goes to a Merchant, and a Cash Out goes to an Agent.

Which one should I choose?

  • I want to save, send money to friends, pay shops, or get paid for freelance work: create a User account.
  • I run a shop, a service or a website and want to accept payments from DroppCash customers: create a Merchant account.
  • I want to earn commission by handling cash for people near me: apply as an Agent.

Key ideas you will see everywhere

Wallets

Every account holds a separate wallet for each currency. You get one wallet when you sign up and new ones appear automatically when you receive, deposit or exchange into another currency.

Fees

Each action has a small, clearly shown fee. You always see the fee and the total on the form before you confirm.

Limits

Every action has a minimum and maximum, and sending and cash-out also have daily and monthly caps. They are shown on the form.

KYC

Identity verification. Some actions stay locked until your documents are approved. It is a one-time process.

Transaction reference

Every movement of money has a unique reference. Quote it if you ever need help, and use it to search your history.

Security

Email verification, optional SMS two-step login, and a record of every login to your account.

Quick start in 5 minutes

  1. Sign up. Choose your account type above and fill in the form. Use your real name, because it is used for identity checks and bank withdrawals.
  2. Verify your email. A 6-digit code is sent to your email. Enter it to unlock your dashboard.
  3. Verify your identity (KYC). Upload an ID once, from the banner at the top of your dashboard. This unlocks sending, paying, exchanging, cashing out and withdrawing.
  4. Turn on two-step security. Optional but strongly recommended. See Two-step security.
  5. Start using it. Users: add money with Deposit. Agents: wait for approval, then request funds. Merchants: finish KYC, then share your email or QR code or connect the API.

Creating an account

Open the sign-up page for your account type, complete the form, and submit. Registration must be open (if registration is ever paused you will see a message saying so).

  • Your country decides your first wallet. A wallet in your country's currency is created for you automatically (for example, a Nigerian account starts with an NGN wallet).
  • Your phone number matters. It is used to send the two-step security code by SMS, so enter it correctly with the right country dial code.
  • Choose a strong password. Use a long, unique password. Never reuse a password from another site.

Verifying your email

Right after you register, a 6-digit verification code is emailed to you and you are asked to enter it. Until you do, the rest of your dashboard stays locked.

  • Did not get the email? Check spam or promotions, then use Resend code on the verification page.
  • Typed the wrong email at sign-up? Contact support from the contact page so the email can be corrected.

Logging in and resetting your password

Log in with your email and password at the login page for your account type. If you try too many wrong passwords in a short time, login is briefly slowed down, so wait a minute and try again.

Forgot your password?

  1. Click Forgot password on the login page and enter your account email.
  2. Enter the reset code that is emailed to you.
  3. Choose a new password and confirm it. Then log in with it.

Changing your password while logged in

Users: Profile Setting in the account menu (top right). Agents and Merchants: Setting > Change Password in the sidebar. Enter your old password, then the new one twice.

Agent accounts

If you see "your agent request is still pending", your agent application has not been approved yet. See Agent approval.

Two-step security (SMS code at login)

Two-step security adds a one-time code, sent by SMS to the phone number on your account, to the login process. Even if someone learns your password they cannot get into your account without your phone.

Turn it on

  1. Open Two Step Security: in the account menu (Users) or under Setting in the sidebar (Agents, Merchants).
  2. Enter your account password and confirm it.
  3. We send a code by SMS to your phone. Enter it on the next page.
  4. Two-step security is now active. You can turn it off the same way (password, then SMS code).

What happens at login once it is on

After you log out and sign in again, you are asked for a fresh SMS code before you reach your dashboard. If a code does not arrive, check that your phone number (with country code) in your profile is correct and that your phone can receive SMS, then use Resend code.

Keep your phone number current

If you lose access to the number on your account while two-step security is on, you will not be able to log in. Contact support to recover your account before you change SIM cards or numbers.

Identity verification (KYC)

KYC ("know your customer") confirms that you are who you say you are. It protects you and everyone else on the platform. You submit your details once. Our team reviews them and your account is unlocked when they are approved.

What KYC unlocks

AccountNeeds KYCWorks without KYC
UserTransfer money, exchange, pay a merchant, create a voucher, make an escrow, cash out to an agent, withdraw to a bank or walletDeposit, request money, create invoices, redeem vouchers, view history, profile settings

AgentAgents do not fill the KYC form. Your ID number and ID photo are taken at sign-up and reviewed as part of agent approval.

How to submit KYC

  1. Log in. A banner at the top of the dashboard says "Please submit your KYC information to enjoy full access". Click Take me there. (Trying to use a locked feature also takes you to the KYC form.)
  2. Users: fill in the ID number that matches the document you will upload. You can give any of: National Identification Number (NIN), Passport ID number, Driving License ID number, National ID Number Slip (NINS), or Voters Card. Then upload a clear photo of the ID under Upload Proof of Selected ID (required).
Merchants: enter your Business Name (required), one ID number (NIN, Passport or Driving License), and upload the Proof of Selected ID (required).
  3. Uploaded images must be PNG, JPG or JPEG and up to 5 MB each. Make sure the photo is sharp, uncropped and fully readable.
  4. Submit. Your status changes to under review.

Get approved first time

Use an unexpired government ID. Make sure the name on your DroppCash profile matches the name on the ID exactly. Photograph the original document in good light, not a screenshot of a screenshot.

Wallets and currencies

Your dashboard shows one wallet card for each currency you hold. Money in one currency is completely separate from money in another until you exchange it.

How wallets are created

  • One wallet is created at sign-up, in your country's currency.
  • A new wallet is created automatically the first time money arrives in a new currency (a transfer, a deposit, a voucher you redeem, an exchange, a cash-in) so you never need to "add a wallet" manually.
  • Forms that move money out of your wallet (transfer, payment, cash out, withdraw and so on) only list wallets that currently have a balance.

Supported currencies

Fiat: NGN (default, Nigerian naira), USD, EUR, GBP, GHS, KES, UGX, TZS, RWF, ZMW, ZAR, EGP, XOF, XAF, AED, CAD, AUD, NZD, SGD, HKD, JPY, CNY, INR, BDT, MYR, THB, TRY, ILS, UAH, BRL, MXN, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN.

Crypto: BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, ADA, TRX, LTC, DOGE, KCS.

The currencies available at any time are the ones shown in the currency pickers inside your dashboard. Which currencies you can deposit or withdraw depends on the methods enabled for each currency.

Exchange rates

Rates between currencies are kept up to date by the platform and are shown on the exchange form before you confirm. Fixed fees (for example "NGN 10") are expressed in the default currency (NGN) and are converted into the currency of the wallet you are using, so a fee in a USD wallet is the equivalent amount in USD.

Limits are counted in naira

Minimum, maximum, daily and monthly limits are set in the default currency (NGN). When you use another currency, the platform converts your amount at the current rate to check the limit. For example, a limit of NGN 100 to NGN 1,000,000 is converted into the equivalent range in your wallet currency.

Transactions and receipts

Every movement of money is saved with a unique transaction reference. Open Transactions in your dashboard to see your history.

  • Search by transaction reference to find one payment fast.
  • Filter by type (Users can filter by Transfer Money, Request Money, Money Exchange, Invoice Payment, Merchant Payment, Merchant API Payment, Make Escrow, Escrow Return, Withdraw Money, Withdraw Reject, Create Voucher, Redeem Voucher, Deposit, Cash In and Cash Out). Agents and Merchants can also filter by type.
  • Open a transaction to see its details: amount, fee, currency, date, description and balance effect.
  • You also receive an email receipt for important actions such as transfers, payments, cash-ins, cash-outs, escrows and withdrawals.
Reading the sign

A + transaction adds money to your wallet; a - transaction removes it. The fee column shows the fee that was charged on that transaction.

Your QR code

Every account has a personal QR code that contains your account email. Instead of typing your email, a sender or customer can scan it to fill in your details.

  1. Users: open the account menu and choose QR Code. Agents and Merchants: choose QR Code in the sidebar.
  2. Click download to save the QR code as an image. Print it for your shop counter or share it on your social pages.

Customers should always check that the name that appears after scanning is the right person or business before they confirm a payment.

Profile settings

  • Users can update their name, phone number, city, ZIP/postal code, address and photo.
  • Agents and Merchants can update their business name, contact name, city, ZIP/postal code, address and photo (the photo is cropped to a square).
Use your real full name

For instant bank withdrawals in naira, the name on the receiving bank account must match the name on your profile (at least two parts of the name must match). Make sure your profile has your first and last name as they appear on your bank account.

Getting help

  • Support tickets. Open Support Ticket in your dashboard, write a subject and a message, and attach a PDF, JPG or PNG if it helps (for example a screenshot). You can reply on the same ticket and our team answers there. This keeps a full record of the conversation.
  • Live chat. Use the chat bubble at the bottom corner of the website when it is available.
  • Email: hello@droppcash.app, or use the contact page.

What to include in a support request

  1. Your account type (User, Agent or Merchant) and the email on the account.
  2. The transaction reference, if the question is about a payment.
  3. What you expected to happen, what actually happened, and any message you saw (a screenshot is ideal).

Staying safe

DroppCash will never ask for these

We will never ask you for your password, a two-step SMS code, an email verification code, or your voucher codes, by phone, chat, email or social media. Anyone who asks is a scammer.

  • Only log in at droppcash.app. Check the address bar before you type your password.
  • Turn on two-step security.
  • Always check the recipient email on a transfer or cash out before you confirm. Transfers are instant and cannot be reversed by you.
  • Treat voucher codes like cash. Anyone who has the code can redeem it.
  • For escrow: do not release funds until you have what you paid for.
  • Never share your API access key. If it leaks, generate a new one at once.
  • Log out on shared computers. Every login to your account is recorded with its IP address and location.

Deposit: add money to your wallet

You can add money in many currencies. The methods you see depend on the currency you choose, because each method supports specific currencies. KYC is not required to deposit.

How to deposit

  1. Go to Deposit > Deposit.
  2. Type the amount first.
  3. Choose the wallet currency you want to fund. The list of gateways (payment methods) for that currency then appears. (If you see "No payment method found associated with this currency", that currency cannot be funded right now.)
  4. Pick a gateway. Any fee for that method and the total you pay are shown.
  5. Click Confirm and complete the payment.

Two kinds of deposit methods

 Automatic methodsManual methods
ExamplesCard, bank transfer, USSD and mobile money through our payment partners (for example Paystack, Flutterwave and Fincra) for currencies such as NGN, USD, KES, GHS, UGX, XOF, XAF and TZSInternational bank transfer in many currencies (for example GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD, SGD and others) and crypto deposits (BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL, TRX, ADA, LTC, DOGE)
How it worksYou are sent to a secure payment page. When the payment succeeds your wallet is credited automatically. You are shown our account (or wallet address). You pay it from your own bank or crypto wallet, then submit your transaction details. Our team confirms the payment and credits your wallet.
SpeedUsually within moments of a successful paymentEach method shows an estimated time (for example 1-2 days for bank transfers). Your deposit shows as pending until it is confirmed.
Crypto deposits: send the right coin to the right address

Only send the exact coin shown (for example Bitcoin to a BTC address) and use the network named in the instructions. Coins sent to the wrong address or the wrong network cannot be recovered.

Bank transfers: use the right reference

Pay the exact amount, from an account in your own name, and keep your bank receipt. Add the transaction details the form asks for (such as the transaction ID or reference) so our team can match your payment quickly.

Check the status of a deposit

Open Deposit > Deposit history. Each deposit shows amount, fee, method and status: completed (credited) or pending (awaiting confirmation). A completed deposit also appears in your Transactions as Deposit.

Deposit fees

Any fee for a method is displayed on the deposit form before you confirm. Manual methods add their fee on top of the amount you deposit.

Transfer money to another user

Send money from your wallet to another DroppCash User using only their email address. It arrives instantly and the receiver gets the full amount you send. Requires KYC.

How to transfer

  1. Go to Transfer & Request > Transfer Money.
  2. Enter the receiver's email. We check that the email belongs to a DroppCash user and show who it is. If they are not found, they must register a User account first.
  3. Choose the wallet to send from and enter the amount.
  4. Check the fee and total shown, then confirm.

What happens

  • Your wallet is reduced by the amount plus the fee.
  • The receiver's wallet is increased by the full amount. If they have no wallet in that currency, one is created for them.
  • You both get an email with the transaction reference, and the transfer appears in Transactions and in the transfer history (where you can search by reference).

Fees and limits

Transfer fee (paid by the sender)Free
Minimum per transferNGN 100
Maximum per transferNGN 1,000,000
Daily sending limitNGN 2,000,000
Monthly sending limitNGN 50,000,000

Limits are counted in the default currency. Your daily total resets at midnight and your monthly total resets on the 1st of each month. Only money you send counts; money you receive does not.

Double-check the email

Transfers are instant and cannot be reversed by you. If you send to the wrong (but valid) user, only that person can send it back. You cannot send money to your own account.

Request money from another user

Ask another user to pay you. They get a request they can accept or reject. KYC is not required to request money.

Send a request

  1. Go to Transfer & Request > Request Money.
  2. Enter the payer's email (a DroppCash User), choose the wallet that should receive the money, and enter the amount.
  3. Submit. The payer sees it under Received Requests. You can follow it under Sent Requests.

Answer a request you received

  1. Go to Transfer & Request > Received Requests.
  2. Choose Accept to pay or Reject to decline.
  3. When you accept, the full requested amount is taken from your wallet in that currency (so you need a wallet in that currency with enough balance). The requester receives the amount minus the request fee.

Fees and limits

Request fee (taken from what the requester receives)0.5% + NGN 10
Minimum requestNGN 500
Maximum requestNGN 1,000,000

The person who accepts pays exactly the amount requested, with no extra fee.

Exchange one currency for another

Convert money between any of the supported currencies (fiat and crypto). Requires KYC.

  1. Go to Exchange.
  2. Choose the wallet you are exchanging from and enter the amount to convert.
  3. Choose the currency you want to exchange to. The amount you will receive is calculated using the current rate and shown to you.
  4. Check the fee, then confirm. A wallet in the new currency is created if you do not have one.
Exchange fee (added to the amount you convert)0.5% + NGN 20
How the numbers work

You pay the amount you typed plus the fee from the "from" wallet, so keep a little extra balance for the fee. The "to" wallet receives the converted amount. Rates move over time, so what you see on the form at the moment you confirm is what you get. Your exchanges appear under Exchange > History.

Pay a merchant

Pay any DroppCash Merchant (shop, service, website) straight from your wallet using their email or QR code. No card details to type. Requires KYC.

  1. Go to Payment.
  2. Enter the merchant's email (or scan their QR code). We check that it belongs to a merchant account.
  3. Choose the wallet and enter the amount.
  4. Confirm. The merchant is credited in the same currency and the payment is saved in your payment history.
Merchant payment fee (taken from what the merchant receives)0.5% + NGN 10
  • You pay exactly the amount you enter. The fee is deducted on the merchant's side.
  • Payments can only go to merchant accounts. To send money to a person use Transfer Money.
  • Paying a website? When a shop uses DroppCash checkout, you are sent to a DroppCash page where you log in with your User account and confirm. If your balance is too low, the page offers to add money by card or bank transfer; then go back to the shop and start the payment again.

Vouchers

A voucher turns part of your balance into a one-time code. Give the code to anyone with a DroppCash account and they can add the money to their wallet. It works like a digital gift card.

Create a voucher needs KYC

  1. Go to Voucher > Create Voucher.
  2. Choose the wallet and enter the amount.
  3. Check the fee and total, then confirm. The amount plus the fee is taken from your wallet.
  4. Your voucher code is created (two groups of 10 digits, like 1234567890-0987654321). Find it in Voucher > My Vouchers and share it with the person you want to give it to.

Redeem a voucher

  1. Go to Voucher > Redeem Voucher and enter the code.
  2. The full voucher amount is added to your wallet in the voucher's currency. A wallet is created if you do not have one in that currency.
  3. Find it later under Redeemed History.
Voucher creation fee (paid by the creator)0.5% + NGN 10
Minimum voucherNGN 1,000
Maximum voucherNGN 1,000,000
  • A voucher can be used once. After it is redeemed, My Vouchers shows it as used.
  • You cannot redeem a voucher you created yourself.
  • Redeeming does not require KYC and costs nothing.
Treat the code like cash

Whoever has the code can redeem it first. Share it only with the person it is meant for, through a private channel.

Invoices

Create an itemised invoice, send your customer a payment link, and receive the money in your wallet. KYC is not required to create invoices.

Create and send an invoice

  1. Go to Invoice > Create Invoice.
  2. Enter Invoice To (customer name), the customer's email, their address, and the currency.
  3. Add the items: a name and an amount for each. Use Add for more lines. The total is the sum of all items.
  4. Choose your options:
    • Allow Escrow: lets the customer pay through escrow for extra safety.
    • Pay for Charge? (If Escrow): if the customer pays through escrow, tick this if the escrow fee should be added on top of the invoice total for the customer. Leave it unticked if the fee should come out of your payout.
  5. Save. The invoice is created as a draft. Go to Invoice > Invoices and switch Publish Status to Published. A customer can only pay a published invoice.
  6. Click the mail action to send the invoice by email again, or Copy Invoice URL to share the link yourself.

How your customer pays

  1. They open the link in the email (or the link you shared). They must log in to their DroppCash User account (or create one).
  2. They choose how to pay: Pay with system wallet (their DroppCash balance), Pay with gateways (card, bank transfer or other methods available for the invoice currency), or Escrow Payment (only if you allowed escrow).
  3. When paid, the invoice is marked paid and you are credited (see fees below). You get a transaction in your history.
Invoice fee (taken from the amount you receive)0.5% + NGN 10
Escrow fee (if the customer pays through escrow)1% + NGN 100
  • The customer pays the full invoice total. The invoice fee is worked out from that total and taken from what you receive.
  • You cannot pay your own invoice.
  • Only invoices in an active currency can be created.

Escrow: pay safely when you do not know the seller

With escrow, DroppCash holds your payment. The seller is told the money is secured, delivers what you bought, and the money only reaches them when you release it. If something goes wrong, either side can open a dispute and our team decides. Creating an escrow requires KYC.

Create an escrow (as the buyer)

  1. Go to Escrow > Make Escrow.
  2. Enter the seller's email (a DroppCash User), choose your wallet, enter the amount, and describe what you are buying.
  3. Decide who pays the fee with the pay charge option:
    • Ticked: the fee is added to what you pay now, and the seller receives the full amount when you release it.
    • Unticked: you pay only the amount, and the fee is taken out of the seller's payout when you release.
  4. Confirm. The money leaves your wallet immediately and is held. You and the seller get an email.

Release the money

When you have received what you paid for, open Escrow > My Escrow, find the escrow and press Release. The seller's wallet is credited and the escrow is closed. Only the buyer can release, and a release cannot be undone, so release only when you are satisfied.

If you are the seller

Open Escrow > Pending Escrows to see escrows made out to you. Deliver the goods or service, then ask the buyer to release. You are paid when they do (or if our team decides in your favour after a dispute).

Disputes

  1. Open the escrow and choose Dispute (available to the buyer and the seller while the money is still held).
  2. Write your message. You can attach a PNG or JPG screenshot (up to 5 MB) as evidence.
  3. Both sides can reply in the dispute thread. DroppCash support reviews the evidence and either releases the money to the seller or returns it to the buyer. You are notified, and the dispute thread is closed.
Escrow statusMeaning
Pending (held)The money is held. The buyer can release it or either side can dispute.
ReleasedThe buyer released the money to the seller. Finished.
DisputedA dispute is open and under review by DroppCash support.
ClosedSupport has resolved the case (paid to the seller or returned to the buyer).
Escrow fee1% + NGN 100
Good practice

Agree the exact deliverable and deadline with the seller in writing before you create the escrow, and keep screenshots of the conversation. If a dispute is needed, clear evidence is what lets us decide quickly.

Cash in and cash out with agents

DroppCash agents are people and shops who swap cash and wallet money. You do not need a bank branch.

Cash in: turn cash into wallet money

  1. Find an agent (the agent will give you their account email, or you can scan their QR code).
  2. Give the agent the cash and tell them your DroppCash User email (or show your QR code).
  3. The agent enters your email and the amount. The money is added to your wallet instantly and you get an email. There is no DroppCash fee for you on a cash-in.
Cash-in amount per transactionNGN 500 to NGN 1,000,000

Cash out: turn wallet money into cash needs KYC

  1. Go to Withdraw > Cash out to Agent.
  2. Enter the agent's email. We check that it belongs to an agent and show their name.
  3. Choose the wallet and amount. Check the fee and total.
  4. Only confirm when you are standing with the agent. The moment you confirm, the amount moves to the agent's wallet. The agent then hands you the cash.
Cash-out fee (paid by you, on top of the amount)0.5% + NGN 10
Minimum per cash-outNGN 500
Maximum per cash-outNGN 200,000
Daily cash-out limitNGN 2,000,000
Monthly cash-out limitNGN 50,000,000
Safety

Never confirm a cash-out unless the agent is in front of you and has agreed the amount. Always check the agent's name on the confirmation screen. If a cash-out is confirmed by mistake, contact the agent straight away and open a support ticket with the transaction reference.

Withdraw money

Send money from your wallet to a bank account, PayPal, Payoneer or a crypto address. Requires KYC. Go to Withdraw > Withdraw Money.

Standard withdrawal (reviewed by our team)

  1. Choose the wallet you are withdrawing from. The available withdrawal methods for that currency appear.
  2. Choose a method and read its instructions. Each method tells you exactly which details to provide (for example bank name, account number and account name, or a PayPal email, or a crypto address).
  3. Enter the amount and fill in your account details. The fee and total are shown.
  4. Submit. The total (amount + fee) is taken from your wallet immediately and the request is pending while our team reviews and pays it.
  • Approved: the money is sent and the request shows as accepted. You get an email.
  • Rejected: the full amount, including the fee, is returned to your wallet and the reason is shown in your withdrawal history (the transaction appears as "Withdraw Reject").

Instant bank withdrawal (NGN)

For Nigerian naira you can choose Instant Bank Transfer (NGN). Your money is sent to your bank account within minutes, normally with no waiting for manual approval.

  1. Choose your NGN wallet and the instant method, then enter the amount.
  2. Pick your bank from the list and enter your 10-digit account number.
  3. We look up the account and show the account name. We also show the transfer fee and your total before you confirm. The bank's transfer fee is passed on to you; DroppCash adds no extra charge of its own on this method.
  4. Confirm. The transfer is sent. You get an email when it completes.
The account name must match your profile name

For safety, the name on the bank account must match your DroppCash profile name (at least two parts of the name must match, in any order). If it does not match, or if your profile has only one name, the request is not sent automatically: it is held for manual review by our team and you will be emailed. If an instant transfer fails, the money is returned to your wallet.

Status of a withdrawal

Open Withdraw > Withdraw history. Instant withdrawals show a live status (processing, in review, completed or failed). Our system rechecks pending instant transfers automatically every few minutes.

User API key (for developers)

If you build a website, app or marketplace, the Api menu gives you an API access key for your User account. With it your own software can start and confirm payments (money is paid into your user wallet), create escrows from your wallet, and create invoices.

  • Open Api to see your key. Use Generate new key to replace it; the old key stops working immediately.
  • Switch between Test mode (no money moves, perfect for building) and Active mode (live money).
  • Full technical reference, examples and error codes are in the API documentation.
Running a business?

Use a Merchant account instead. Merchant keys show your business name at checkout and pay into your merchant wallet.

User FAQ and troubleshooting

I cannot see my wallet in the list when I try to send money.

Forms that spend money only list wallets with a balance above zero. Add money first with Deposit, or choose another wallet.

It says "Insufficient balance" but I have enough for the amount.

Remember that the fee is added on top for transfers, exchanges, vouchers, cash-outs and withdrawals. You need the amount plus the fee in the same wallet.

I see "Please follow the limit".

The amount is below the minimum or above the maximum for that action. The limits are shown on the form and in the fees table.

It says I went over my daily or monthly limit.

Daily and monthly totals for transfers and cash-outs include everything you already sent that day or month. Try a smaller amount or wait until the limit resets (midnight for daily, the 1st for monthly).

I get sent to the KYC page when I try to send or pay.

That action requires verified identity. Complete KYC. If it is "under review", wait for approval. If it was rejected, open the reasons, fix them and re-submit.

"Receiver not found" when I send money.

The email you typed does not belong to a User account. Check the spelling. Remember that Merchants and Agents are different account types: pay a merchant through Payment and an agent through Cash out to Agent.

I sent money to the wrong person.

Transfers are instant and cannot be reversed by you. Contact the person and ask them to send it back. If they refuse or cannot be reached, open a support ticket with the transaction reference and we will look into it.

My deposit is still pending.

Manual deposits (bank transfer and crypto) wait for confirmation by our team. Make sure you used the exact details shown and submitted your transaction details. Automatic deposits normally credit within moments; if yours does not, open a ticket with the transaction reference from your payment provider.

My withdrawal was rejected.

Open Withdraw history to read the reason. Your money (including the fee) has been returned to your wallet. Correct the issue (for example wrong account details) and submit a new withdrawal.

My instant withdrawal is "in review".

The bank account name did not match your profile name (or your profile has only one name), or a check needs a person to look at it. Our team reviews it and you are emailed the outcome. To avoid this, put your full legal name on your profile exactly as on your bank account.

The invoice link says the invoice is not published.

Drafts cannot be paid. In Invoice > Invoices, switch the invoice's Publish Status to Published, then send the link again.

I cannot pay an invoice.

You cannot pay your own invoice, a cancelled invoice, or one that is already paid. You must be logged in to a User account (not a Merchant or Agent account).

I did not receive my two-step SMS code.

Check that the phone number on your profile includes the country code and can receive SMS. Request the code again after a minute. If you still cannot log in, open a support ticket from another account or use the contact page.

Can I use the same email as a Merchant or Agent?

Yes. They are separate accounts with separate passwords and wallets. Money in one is not automatically in another.

For Agents Agent account

Agents are DroppCash's cash points. You help people in your area turn cash into wallet money (Cash In) and turn wallet money into cash (Cash Out), and you earn a commission on cash-ins. This part of the guide explains how to join, how the money flows, and how to run your agent business safely.

How the agent business works

1. You hold float

You keep money in your agent wallet (called float). You get it by requesting funds from DroppCash.

2. Cash In

A customer gives you cash. You send the same amount from your wallet to theirs, and earn commission.

3. Cash Out

A customer sends you wallet money. You see it in your wallet and hand them the same amount in cash.

4. Withdraw

When your wallet grows, withdraw to your bank account.

What you get with an Agent account

  • A dedicated agent dashboard with your wallets, recent transactions and recent withdrawals
  • Fund Requests to top up your float
  • User Cash-In to credit customers who hand you cash, with commission paid straight to your wallet
  • Automatic credit when customers cash out to you
  • Withdraw to bank (including instant naira transfers), PayPal, Payoneer or crypto
  • A personal QR code so customers can find you by scanning, two-step security and support tickets

Becoming an agent: sign up

  1. Open https://www.droppcash.app/agent/register.
  2. Fill in: business name, business address, your National ID number, a clear photo of the ID (JPG or PNG), your full name, email, phone number (with country code), country, address and a password.
  3. Submit, then verify your email with the 6-digit code that is sent to you.
  4. Your application is now pending. You cannot log in to the agent dashboard until it is approved.
Tips for a fast approval

Use the real name and address of the business, make sure the ID photo is sharp and readable, and use a phone number you can always answer, because the team may call to confirm your details.

Agent approval

Every new agent is reviewed by the DroppCash team before they can start. This protects customers who trust you with their cash.

StatusWhat it means
PendingYour application is being reviewed. If you try to log in you see "your agent request is still pending". Nothing is wrong. Please wait.
ActiveYou are approved. You can log in and use every agent feature.
Banned / rejectedYour agent account is not active. Open a support ticket from the contact page or email hello@droppcash.app to find out why.
Agent programme switched off

If the agent programme is ever paused, agent pages show a notice that the feature is currently unavailable. Your account and balances are not affected.

Your agent dashboard

After you log in at https://www.droppcash.app/agent/login you land on the dashboard. The sidebar contains:

MenuUse it to
DashboardSee your wallet balances (one card per currency), your recent transactions and your recent withdrawals
TransactionsFull history of cash-ins, cash-outs, commissions, fund credits and withdrawals. Search by reference and filter by type.
QR CodeShow or download your QR code so customers can scan it
Fund RequestsAsk DroppCash to credit your wallet so you have float to work with
User Cash-InCredit a customer's wallet when they hand you cash
WithdrawWithdraw Money and Withdraw History
SettingProfile Setting, Change Password and Two Step Security
Support TicketContact the DroppCash team and follow your conversations

Set up your profile first: Setting > Profile Setting. Make sure your business name, address and photo are correct because customers see them.

Then turn on Two Step Security (how). As an agent you handle other people's money, so this is strongly recommended.

Getting float: fund requests

To perform cash-ins you need money in your agent wallet. You top it up by sending a fund request to DroppCash.

  1. Open Fund Requests.
  2. Choose the currency and enter the amount you need, then submit. Each request gets a unique code you can use to search for it later.
  3. The DroppCash team reviews the request.
    • Accepted: the amount is credited to your agent wallet immediately and you get an email with the transaction reference. It appears in your Transactions as "Fund request accepted".
    • Rejected: nothing is credited and you are emailed.
  4. Settle the funds with DroppCash as agreed with the team when your request is approved. Always quote your request's unique code when you pay or ask about it.
  • You can only send fund requests while your account is active.
  • Request in the currency your customers use. You hold a separate wallet for each currency.

Cash In: a customer hands you cash

When a customer wants to add cash to their DroppCash wallet, you credit their wallet from your float, and keep the cash.

  1. Take the cash from the customer and count it.
  2. Open User Cash-In.
  3. Choose your wallet (the currency you are paying out in). Only wallets with a balance are listed.
  4. Enter the customer's DroppCash User email. (They can show you their QR code.) We check that the user exists and show their name. Confirm that it is the right person.
  5. Enter the amount that matches the cash you received.
  6. Confirm. Your wallet is reduced by the amount; the customer's wallet is increased by the same amount instantly (a wallet is created for them in that currency if needed). You both get an email.
  7. Your commission is credited to your wallet straight away as a separate "Cash In Commission" transaction.
Minimum per cash-inNGN 500
Maximum per cash-inNGN 1,000,000
Your commission on each cash-in0.5% of the amount
Fee charged to the customerNone

The customer must have a User account. You need enough balance in your wallet to cover the amount. The commission rate is set by DroppCash and is shown on the Cash-In page.

Cash In is instant and final

Always count the cash before you press confirm and check the customer's name on screen. You cannot cancel a cash-in once it is confirmed.

Cash Out: a customer collects cash from you

When a customer wants to turn wallet money into cash, they send a Cash Out payment to your agent email, and you give them the cash.

  1. The customer tells you the amount they want and enters your agent email (or scans your QR code) on their Cash out to Agent page.
  2. They confirm. The full amount they entered is credited to your agent wallet instantly. You get an email and a "Cash Out" transaction.
  3. Check your wallet or the email, and confirm the credit has arrived in the right amount.
  4. Only then, hand the customer the cash for that amount.
  • The customer pays the cash-out fee; you receive the full amount they send you.
  • A customer can cash out up to NGN 200,000 at a time, subject to their daily and monthly limits.
Never hand over cash before you see the money

Always confirm the credit in your own dashboard or on the email you receive from DroppCash. Do not trust a screenshot or a "payment sent" message shown on the customer's phone.

How agents earn

ActivityWhat happens to your walletWhat you earn
Fund request acceptedWallet increases by the amount you requestedNo earning. This is your float.
Cash In (you credit a customer)Wallet decreases by the amountCommission of 0.5% of the amount, credited at once
Cash Out (customer pays you)Wallet increases by the amountNo fee for you; you pay out cash equal to this amount
WithdrawWallet decreases by the amount plus the method fee-

Your profit comes from the commission on cash-ins and from running a steady cash business. Use the Transactions page (filter by "Cash In Commission") to see exactly what you have earned.

Rates can change

Commission rates and limits are set by DroppCash and may be updated. The Cash-In page always shows the current numbers.

Withdrawing your balance

You can withdraw agent balance to your bank account or other supported methods. Go to Withdraw > Withdraw Money. The steps, fees, limits and statuses are the same as for users, including Instant Bank Transfer (NGN); see Withdraw money for the complete walkthrough and the methods table.

  • Pick the wallet, then the method, enter the amount and the account details, and submit.
  • Standard withdrawals are reviewed by the team. Rejected ones are refunded in full with the reason shown in Withdraw History.
  • For instant naira transfers, the bank account name must match the name on your agent profile (at least two name parts).

Agent safety and good practice

  • Verify before you pay out. For a Cash Out, wait for the credit in your own dashboard or an email from DroppCash.
  • Verify before you press confirm. For a Cash In, count the cash and check the customer's name on the screen.
  • Keep float in the right currency. If you serve customers in several currencies, keep a wallet balance in each.
  • Protect your login. Use two-step security, never share your password, and log out on shared devices.
  • Display your QR code in your shop so customers can find the right agent account quickly.
  • Keep records. Every transaction has a reference. Note it for disputes.
  • Be wary of fraud. If someone asks you to "reverse" a cash-in or to pay out before the money arrives, refuse. DroppCash staff never ask agents for passwords or codes.

Agent FAQ and troubleshooting

"Your agent request is still pending" when I log in.

Your application has not been approved yet. You will be able to log in once the team approves it. If it has been a long time, email hello@droppcash.app from the email you registered with.

"You are not eligible to perform this action" on a fund request.

Fund requests are only available to active agents. Your account is still pending or has been deactivated.

"Sorry! User not found" on Cash In.

The email does not belong to a User account. Ask the customer to check their email, or to register a User account first. Cash-ins cannot go to merchant or agent accounts.

"Insufficient balance" on Cash In.

Your wallet in that currency does not cover the amount. Request more funds or choose a different wallet.

"Please follow the limit" on Cash In.

The amount is below the minimum or above the maximum per cash-in. See the limits in Cash In.

A customer says they cashed out to me but I do not see the money.

Check Transactions and your email. Ask the customer for the transaction reference. Do not hand over cash until the credit is there. If they sent it to the wrong email, they must contact the other account holder or support.

Can I cancel or reverse a cash-in?

No. Cash-ins are final once confirmed. If a mistake was made, open a support ticket straight away with the transaction reference.

Do I need KYC as an agent?

You do not fill in the KYC form. Your ID number and photo are collected at sign-up and checked during approval.

For Merchants Merchant account

A Merchant account lets your business get paid by DroppCash customers: in person with your email or QR code, or online with the DroppCash checkout and API. This part of the guide shows how to set up, start receiving money, connect your website, and withdraw your earnings.

What you get with a Merchant account

Get paid by email or QR

Customers pay you from their DroppCash wallet by entering your merchant email or scanning your QR code.

Online checkout API

Add DroppCash payments to your website or app with a simple API and an access key.

Escrow checkout

Offer buyers the safety of escrow. You are paid when they release the money.

Test and live modes

Build and test your whole integration without moving real money, then switch to live.

Multi-currency wallets

Receive in the currency the customer pays in. A wallet appears for each currency.

Withdraw

Cash out to your bank (including instant naira transfers), PayPal, Payoneer or crypto.

Transactions and reports

Search and filter every payment by reference or type.

Security

Two-step login, API key rotation and signed webhooks.

Merchants receive; they do not pay out

A Merchant account is built for receiving payments. It does not send transfers or pay other merchants. To spend your earnings, withdraw them. (A Merchant account also cannot pay a checkout; the buyer must be a DroppCash User.)

Setting up your Merchant account

  1. Register at https://www.droppcash.app/merchant/register. You need your business name, your full name, email, phone (with country code), country, address and a password.
  2. Verify your email with the 6-digit code we send.
  3. Set up your business profile. Go to Setting > Profile Setting and check your business name, city, ZIP/postal code, address and photo. Your business name is what customers see at checkout, so make sure it is the name they know. (If it is empty, your account name is shown instead.)
  4. Submit KYC so you can withdraw (how).
  5. Turn on two-step security (how).
  6. Start receiving: share your email or QR code, or connect the API.

Merchant identity verification (KYC)

You can start receiving payments straight after email verification, but withdrawing requires approved KYC. Do it early so you can withdraw as soon as money arrives.

  1. Click the KYC banner on your dashboard (or open the KYC form when a locked feature sends you there).
  2. Enter your Business Name (required).
  3. Enter one ID number: National Identification Number (NIN), Passport ID number or Driving License ID number.
  4. Upload a clear photo of that ID under Upload Proof of Selected ID (required, PNG/JPG, up to 5 MB).
  5. Submit. Status becomes under review; once approved the Withdraw menu works. If rejected, use See Reasons and re-submit.

The full status table is in Identity verification (KYC).

Receiving payments

There are three ways your customers can pay you. All of them credit your merchant wallet in the currency the customer paid in.

1. In person or by link: your email and QR code

  1. Share your merchant email, or display your QR code (download it from QR Code and print it).
  2. The customer, logged in to their User account, opens Payment, enters your email or scans your QR code, picks a wallet and enters the amount.
  3. They confirm. You are credited immediately (minus the fee) and receive an email. It shows in Transactions as Merchant Payment.

2. Online: the DroppCash checkout (API)

Your website or app asks DroppCash to create a payment, sends the buyer to a DroppCash checkout page, then confirms the result. This is covered step by step in Connect your website. Credited payments appear as Merchant API Payment.

3. Online with escrow

Buyers pay into DroppCash escrow and you are paid when they release it. See Escrow checkout.

Fees on money you receive

How you were paidFee (taken from what you receive)
Customer paid by email / QR code0.5% + NGN 10
Customer paid through the API checkout0.5% + NGN 10
Customer paid through escrow1% + NGN 100 (taken from your payout unless the buyer chose to pay the fee)
  • The customer always pays the exact amount. The fee is deducted from what is credited to you.
  • The fee is shown on each transaction.
  • Fixed fees are converted into the currency of the payment.

Connect your website: accepting payments with the API

If you sell online, you can add DroppCash as a payment option. A developer can do this in under an hour. This section explains the flow in plain language; the complete reference, with code in cURL, PHP, Node.js and Python, is in the API documentation.

Step 1: Get your API access key

  1. Log in and open API Access Key.
  2. Your key is shown (it is created the first time you open the page). Copy it and store it on your server only.
  3. If the key is ever exposed, click Generate new key. The old key stops working at once.

Step 2: Choose Test or Active mode

ModeWhat happens
Test mode (default for a new key)No money moves and no wallet balance is needed. Checkout, webhooks and redirects behave exactly like live mode, so you can test your whole integration.
Active mode (live)The buyer's wallet is charged and your merchant wallet is credited for real.

Use the mode switch on the API Access Key page. In both modes the buyer signs in with a DroppCash User account during checkout, so create a second test User account to play the buyer.

Step 3: How a payment flows

  1. Your server sends the amount, currency, your own order reference, the buyer's email and three URLs (webhook, success, cancel) to DroppCash. You get back a payment ID and a checkout link.
  2. You send the buyer to that link. They log in with their DroppCash User account and confirm the payment from their wallet in the chosen currency. If their balance is too low, the page offers to add money by card or bank transfer.
  3. DroppCash tells you the result by calling your webhook URL and by sending the buyer back to your success URL.
  4. Your server confirms the payment with DroppCash (a "check validity" call) before delivering the goods. This step is essential. The webhook and redirect are not signed, so anyone could fake them.
Always confirm before you deliver

Never ship an order just because your success page was opened. Confirm with the check-validity call, match your own order reference and amount, and fulfil each order only once.

Who can pay you through the checkout?

  • The buyer must have a DroppCash User account with a wallet in the payment currency.
  • Merchant accounts cannot pay.
  • The currency must be one DroppCash supports (see Wallets and currencies).

Key points developers ask about

Required fields to startcurrency_code, amount, custom (your order reference, up to 20 characters), details, customer_email, web_hook, success_url, cancel_url

Not a developer?

Send the API documentation link to whoever builds your website. They only need your access key and a few lines of code.

Escrow checkout: let buyers pay safely

Escrow checkout works like the normal checkout, except that the buyer pays into DroppCash escrow instead of paying you directly. The money is held until the buyer releases it. This is ideal for high-value items, services and marketplaces where trust matters. You are the seller, and you are paid into your merchant wallet when the buyer releases.

How it flows

  1. Your server starts an escrow payment (same fields as a normal payment, plus an optional choice of who pays the fee) and sends the buyer to the checkout link.
  2. The buyer funds the escrow. You are told by webhook (escrow.funded) and the status becomes held. This is your signal to ship or deliver.
  3. The buyer releases the money when happy (escrow.released) and you are credited. If there is a problem, a dispute is opened (escrow.disputed) and DroppCash support decides who receives the money.
StatusMeaning
awaiting_paymentThe buyer has not funded the escrow yet
heldFunded and held. You can deliver.
releasedThe buyer released the money to you
disputedA dispute is open. Support will decide.
refundedThe money went back to the buyer
released_by_adminSupport decided in your favour and paid you
closedThe escrow closed with no payout
  • You can refund the buyer through the API while the money is still held.
  • In test mode there is no real buyer, so a simulate call lets you act as the buyer (release or dispute) to test your flow.
  • Webhooks are signed (header X-DroppCash-Signature) so you can verify they really came from DroppCash.
  • Merchant accounts do not have an escrow screen in the dashboard. Track escrows with the status call and webhooks.
  • Fee: 1% + NGN 100. By default it is taken from your payout; the buyer can choose to pay it on top.

Technical details are in the API documentation under Escrow Checkout.

Withdrawing your earnings

Go to Withdraw > Withdraw Money. You need approved KYC.

  1. Choose the wallet (currency) you are withdrawing from.
  2. Choose a method, enter the amount and your account details (bank details, PayPal email, crypto address and so on, as the method's instructions say).
  3. Submit. The amount plus the method fee is taken from your wallet at once.
  4. Standard methods are reviewed by our team and then paid. If rejected, you are refunded in full and the reason is shown in Withdraw History.
  5. Instant Bank Transfer (NGN): choose your bank, enter your 10-digit account number, check the account name and fee shown, and confirm. It is paid within minutes. The bank account name must match your merchant profile name (at least two parts), otherwise it goes to manual review.

Methods, limits and fees are the same as in Withdraw money (for example NGN bank transfer 500 to 500,000 with no fee; most international methods 1%).

Planning payouts

Payments you receive are in your wallet immediately, so you can withdraw as often as you like within the method limits. Withdraw regularly rather than letting large balances build up.

Go-live checklist

  1. Business name on your profile is correct.
  2. KYC is verified.
  3. Two-step security is on.
  4. Your integration works end to end in Test mode (payment, webhook, success redirect, cancel redirect, check-validity).
  5. Your server confirms every payment with check-validity before delivering, and delivers each order only once.
  6. Your access key is only on your server, not in your web page or mobile app code.
  7. You switched the API Access Key page to Active mode and ran one small real payment from a test buyer account.
  8. Your QR code is printed or shared, if you also take payments in person.

Merchant FAQ and troubleshooting

Can I pay another merchant or send money to a friend from a Merchant account?

No. Merchant accounts receive and withdraw. If you need to send money, withdraw it, or use a separate User account.

A customer says they paid, but I do not see it.

Ask for their transaction reference and search it in Transactions. Check that they paid the right merchant email (it must be yours, not another merchant's). For online orders, confirm with check-validity using the payment ID.

A customer cannot pay on my website.

They must be a DroppCash User (not a Merchant or Agent), logged in, with a wallet in the payment currency and enough balance. If the balance is too low, the checkout offers to add money by card or bank transfer. They then go back to your site and start again.

The API says "Invalid API credentials".

The access key is missing or wrong. Send it as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_KEY. If you regenerated the key, update it in your code.

The API returns HTTP 200 but my payment did not start.

Always read the code field in the JSON response. Anything other than 200 is an error and the message explains what to fix.

Why was I credited less than the customer paid?

The customer pays the full amount and the DroppCash fee is deducted from what you receive. The fee is shown on the transaction. See Fees on money you receive.

I cannot withdraw.

Withdrawals need approved KYC and a wallet with enough balance for the amount plus fee. If your KYC is under review, wait for approval; if it was rejected, re-submit it.

Did a test-mode payment charge anyone?

No. In Test mode no money moves and no wallet balance is needed. Switch to Active mode only when you are ready for real payments.

What name do customers see at checkout?

Your business name from Setting > Profile Setting. If it is empty, your account name is shown.

Fees and limits at a glance

This table is read live from DroppCash's current settings, so it always shows today's numbers. A fee such as "0.5% + NGN 10" means 0.5% of the amount plus a fixed NGN 10 (converted to your wallet's currency). "Free" means no fee.

Worked examples
